WALK ACROSS TEXAS

UPDATE:  WE ARE IN WACO!!

National Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 3, 2007 and will kick off a new program here at Park Glen called WALK ACROSS TEXAS which lasts throughout the school year!  WALK ACROSS TEXAS is an opportunity for students and parents to save fuel, cut down on air pollution and develop a healthy lifestyle by walking, skating, or biking to school – not just on National Walk to School Day- but throughout the school year.

Here’s how it works:

Students record their mileage weekly and turn it in on Friday.  Slips and a corresponding box will be located by the large Texas map in the hall.

Chelsea and Charlie Cheetah will move across Texas as your miles add up.  Will they make it to the Alamo? the beach?  Only you can make it happen!

Weekly and monthly awards will be given for both class and individuals.  All participating students will have their name and mileage posted by the Texas map.

Acceptable mileage includes:
          Trips to and from school
          Mile Club in PE
Family exercise – bike rides, etc.
Other events – local fun runs, PGE Boosterthon, triathlons, etc.

MOMS!! We want you involved too! If you are interested in walking, jogging, or cycling after you drop the kids off in the morning, let us know and we’ll hook you up! Give me your name, phone number and email and a master list will be posted by the Texas map. Thanks!
