Other Program Notes

  • The READING LIST is only to help you find books in that category area.  You may read from the list but you may also find other books that fit under that category area by checking with a: Librarian, Teacher, Reading Specialist, Parent, and/or              Recognized bibliography
  • Credit will only be given for reading (aloud/silently) a book and/or listening to a book read in its entirety.  We encourage the student to do most of the reading; however, some might need to have the books read to them (Kindergartners…).  If the book is read to the student please have the student try to follow the words as they are read and have them read some of the words or phrases if possible.
  • Viewing Television, film, DVD or video etc. adaptations of books cannot be counted.
  • tudents are encouraged to discuss their books with a parent, guardian, or teacher. (i.e., characters, plot, like or dislike, illustrations…).
  • REMEMBER a book can be listed only once. REMEMBER to complete the Award Books section.  Books for this area can be selected from any category but must be an award winner.  Please indicate on the READING RECORDING FORM next to the title the award it received (i.e., Newbery, Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, IRA, ALA, Bluebonnet Winner…)
  • Students are encouraged to use the public library as well as the school library to get the books for Reading Olympics
